Apartment 216
Rendered in Unreal Engine 4
This small apartment was inspired by the video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the films Pi and Blade Runner. For this project I wanted to create a narrative about a machine which applied mathematical formulas to the stock market, in an attempt to find a pattern. Much like the computer 'Euclid', in the film Pi.

This is the wooden floor material in my scene. As certain parts of the level had plain wood and paneled wood, I had to create a master material so I could simply toggle between the too. To do this I created a separate normal map for the planks and added them on top of the original normals, adding a toggle to switch it on and off when need. The same is done to the AO and Roughness maps.
This material shows how I masked out each screen for the main computer, which meant I could use instanced decals to display each screen individually. Upon further learning of the UE4 material editor, I realize that I can use simple Boolean switches to control this mask, instead of the amount of nodes I currently have.
This node setup shows how I created a master material for the stacked paper. With three different parameters I can toggle on and off any of the three textures.
